Ore to rebar, under one roof

Every stage of the bar happens inside our own gates.

Many TMT brands buy billets on the market. Singhal makes its own, starting from iron ore. That is why the chemistry of the bar you buy stays consistent, batch after batch.

01

Iron ore & coal

Ore and non-coking coal are sized and fed to the kilns.

02

Sponge iron

Rotary kilns reduce the ore into DRI, a clean base for steel.

03

Steel melting

Induction furnaces melt DRI and set the chemistry of each heat.

04

Billets

Molten steel is cast into billets, checked heat by heat.

05

Rolling & quenching

Billets are rolled, then quenched and self-tempered into TMT.

06

Finished steel

TMT bars, wire rods, HB wire, MS pipes and strips leave for site.

Fe 500 means the bar has a minimum yield strength of 500 N/mm². The D stands for higher ductility: IS 1786 sets tighter limits on carbon, sulphur and phosphorus for Fe 500D and asks for at least 16% elongation, against 12% for plain Fe 500. The bar can stretch more before it fails, which matters in earthquakes.

Singhal 500D TMT bars are made to IS 1786:2008, the Indian Standard for high strength deformed steel bars used in concrete reinforcement.

Weight in kg per metre equals the diameter in mm squared, divided by 162. A 12 mm bar weighs about 0.888 kg per metre, or 10.66 kg for a standard 12 m length.

A common planning thumb rule for an RCC framed house is 3.5 to 4 kg of steel per square foot of built-up area. Treat it as a first estimate only. Your structural engineer’s bar bending schedule gives the final quantity.

Singhal makes its own sponge iron and billets before rolling them into TMT bars. Controlling every stage keeps the chemistry of the steel consistent from one batch to the next, instead of depending on billets bought on the market.

Buy from an authorised Singhal dealer, check that the bars carry the Singhal identification mark and grade, and ask for the test certificate for your lot. If in doubt, call the sales desk on 0771-2443238.
